Product Description

The medin-NC3 is the first turbine-driven nCPAP device for non-invasive respiratory support in premature infants and neonates. The high-performance turbine makes the device independent of a fixed compressed air supply.

The ApneaCPAP mode uses proven MediTRIG technology. Powerful leak compensation for stable and effective therapy.

The device offers all the main modes for modern non-invasive respiratory support

Brief technical description:

- Does not depend on compressed air due to a high-performance turbine (no noise and cost-effectiveness)

- All the main modes for non-invasive respiratory support

- HFNC mode (high-frequency non-invasive nCPAP) and nCPAP in one device

- Leak compensation in all modes

- MediTRIG: Built-in trigger and apnea monitoring without an additional sensor

Technical characteristics of the medin-NC3 nasal nCPAP breathing system for newborns:

Physical data:

The basic unit-device has the ability to be installed and fixed on a special trolley with a mobile base.

Overall dimensions: 34 x 25 x 25 cm, weight: 6.25 kg

Purpose:

Assistant ventilation system for intranasal ventilation with constant positive pressure. It is used for premature babies with low and critically low body weight, as well as older children. It is possible to use the device for intra-hospital transportation due to independence from a compressed air source

Power supply:

The device operates when powered from an electrical network with an alternating current voltage of 100 to 240 volts 10%, 50/60 Hz.

The device provides autonomous operation from the built-in battery for 2 hours. An additional external battery provides autonomous use of the device for 4 hours. The battery charge level is displayed on the monitor screen.

Gas supply:

The device does not depend on a compressed air source due to the presence of a high-performance turbine.

The device provides operation at the operating pressure of medical gases (oxygen):

3.0 - 7.0 bar.

External outputs:

Availability of a USB / RS232 connector - for calling up internal device data and installing software updates. In addition, it is possible to start exporting trend data by pressing the corresponding button when displaying a trend. The USB interface then transmits real-time or trend data, which can be received and saved on a computer or in a data management system.

Pneumatic system:

The internal electronic mixing unit mixes the air supplied from an external source and the ambient oxygen supplied by the built-in air blower, and doses the mixture so that the air flow supplied to the patient can be enriched with oxygen to any degree, and the oxygen concentration can reach from 21% to 100%. The flow rate of the gas mixture is regulated by the operator in the range from 0 l/min to 17.5 l/min and is set depending on the selected mode.

Pneumatic system characteristics:

Flow rate: 0 – 17.5 l/min.

Control range: 2-17.5 l/min.

Connected gases: Oxygen.

Pressure of the supply gases: 3.0 – 7.0 bar.

Oxygen concentration in the mixture: 21% - 100% (tolerance ±3%)

Gas connector type: DISS type (optional NIST type).

Oxygen cell for FiO2 monitoring - sensor type: MLF16

Excess pressure relief valve: 60 mbar.

Device control components:

The device control is an integrated color LCD display with the following parameters: 7-inch diagonal, 800 x 480 pixel resolution, as well as various buttons and rotary devices on the front panel.

The display shows the following parameters: nCPAP, FiO2, spontaneous breathing rate, nCPAP - time curve, FiO2 barograms, oscillation frequency.

Modes:

CPAP - generates constant CPAP pressure in the generator with constant flow. You can also enable the leak-assist leak compensation function.

Apnea CPAP - in the absence of respiratory activity during the set time interval (apnea), the device automatically generates and delivers a breath to stimulate the patient's respiratory activity. You can also enable the leak-assist leak compensation function.

NIPPV - Non-invasive ventilation with positive pressure support. You can also enable the leak-assist leak compensation function.

HighFlow (nHFT / HHHFNC): HighFlow mode provides a constant flow at a rate of up to 12 l/min.

Standby mode - can be used for the time between preparing the device and its actual use, as well as for pauses in CPAP therapy for one patient

The device supports audible and visual alarm. The display shows the following alarm parameters: nCPAP level, FiO2, battery level, automatic pressure control of delivered gases, and low pressure alarm.

Trends: The trend data is divided into two parts. The first part contains log files of saved alarms and device starts. This record contains data from the last device use and is saved even after the device is turned off. The second part of the trend data is deleted each time the device is turned off. It stores data from the last device start, but for a maximum of 28 days. It contains the following values: CPAP pressure, set flow, measured oxygen concentration, set additional support flow, mode, respiratory rate, apnea ventilation activation, support frequency HR, minimum and maximum possible support frequency, maximum pressure during support, oscillation frequency, set oscillation amplitude step, resulting pressure for oscillation amplitude, set inspiratory time, and set apnea time.

Consumables and wearing parts of the medin-NC3 nasal respiratory nCPAP system for newborns:

1 Single-use active generator

It is an active interface device for nCPAP therapy. The active generator is a patient interface that must be used with nCPAP drivers, or in nCPAP mode with certain ventilators.

Operating principle: based on the use of a Benveniste valve with a volumetric reservoir. Thanks to the modified valve, continuous positive pressure in the airways is provided without an additional valve in the flow driver itself.

Connection of the active generator to the flow driver: via a single-tube system.

Thanks to the accurate and fast pressure trigger in the active generator, there is no need for an additional sensor (for example, an abdominal sensor) to register such parameters as spontaneous breathing, obstruction and central apnea.

There is a flexible adapter with a variable angle of inclination. Different angles of inclination are used depending on the patient's age and anatomical features to ensure optimal fixation. The active generator can provide the possibility of drug inhalation, thanks to the presence of a special port.
